Most technical bass guitar players

Most bass players are regulated to the back of the stage, thumping out rhythm bass lines that move the music we love forward. However, bassists are oftentimes overlooked. The soul of blues, the thunder of rock, the movement of jazz, would be nowhere without the unsung legends. Question is, who's the best?
