Description

The Apple iPhone 4 (the fourth-generation iPhone) was introduced by Steve Jobs on June 7th, 2010 at WWDC and was announced to be launched on the 24th of June. The launch date was postponed due to high demand (over 600,000 pre-orders in 24 hours). Apple stated that they had not taken such a rush into consideration, and were taken by surprise.

The case has been redesigned for this model and consists of a stainless steel frame that doubles as an antenna. Front and back are made of a sealed and scratch resistant safety glass. Overall, the iPhone is 9.3 millimeters thick, about 3 millimeters thinner than its predecessor.

The new 3.5-inch screen has a resolution of 960 × 640 pixels and IPS technology, better than the previous model that only supported a resolution of 480 × 320. The number of pixels was quadrupled and the pixel density is therefore 326 ppi.

The iPhone 4 ships with the iOS 4 operating system, the first to support multitasking for third party applications.
